Official Gold Rush Trailer

What is Gold Rush? It is an automotive lifestyle event…a group of people who love cars and the lifestyle get together for a Rally. This year, we started in San Francisco and drove to Los Angeles, then on to Vegas.

Exotic cars, muscle cars, whatever…we didn’t care. We care more about the people, the parties and the lavish hotel resorts at which we stay rather than breaking the sound barrier. Oh, don’t get us wrong…we stretched our cars’ legs a bit, but it’s all in good fun.

Gold Rush X Royalefam

You know how it is when someone says, “Man, I love your work” ?
Well, Knick Jimenez LOVES our work. And he’s declared it all over
his Cadillac …………

Knick’s our hombre at Luxury4Play.com the premier luxury car forum.
He’s also a sneakerhead and SBTG’S biggest supporter.

When he told us he’d been thinking bout doing up one of his rides to
match his Royalfam Friends and Family Nike SBs, our response was like
“No way he’s crazy enough to pull that off.”

Fast forward a few weeks and he mails us these pictures.

So not only has he come up with the dopest tribute to SBTG Custom Kicks
ever, he drove it in the goldRush rally, a 4 day 3 night tour through San Francisco,
Los Angeles and Las Vegas that’s become one of the social and lifestyle events
in 2009.

Madness.

We salute you Knick.

Griptape Craft

Posted by Mark Ong On June - 22 - 2009

I still remember the old days of helping out in my local skate store when I always took pride in gripping boards.

Being extremely OCD on the cut, i would rip out a ‘bad job’ and insist on a replacement.

Until today, I’m always be very satisfied when I cut a perfect curve line on the nose and tail.

Custom Converse Chuck Taylor

Quite an interesting experiment on this pair of chucks.

The pyramid studs fit quite perfectly on the toe area.

I also folded the tongue to a somewhat low-cut length, armored it with some croc leather and secured it with studs and eyelets, and laced it down to place. And now we have ourselves a low top tongue to secure jeans with.

It is quite a good look and one that would definitely be considered for future production.

Why I Love Modifying Stuff

Posted by Mark Ong On June - 11 - 2009

Ever since I was a child, I’ve always loved to “modify” my toys. To the extent where I just couldn’t leave anything alone. Initially there was fear of destroying them and true enough I had some regrets. I would leave those in another box, it was sort of like the B grade box. I would only play with the ones in box A.

Along came the day when I got sick of the toys in box A and my parents wouldn’t buy me new ones. So I took out all the modifed toys in box B and stared at them. Then I decided to modify them even further till they became my “New” favourite toys.

As a child I learned to evolve beyond my surroundings. Since then, I have eliminated the fear of possibly destroying something, as that fear is actually the real destruction of creative passion.

You could fear and do nothing, but if you do something inspite of fear, you can create and achieve wisdom.

D.I.Y for life. Evolve Beyond.

A Childhood Dream Come True

Exclusive SBTG Casio G-Shock

Exclusive SBTG Casio G-Shock

My mom bought me a G-shock when I was about seven years old and I immediately felt like the luckiest kid in school.

It was a status symbol man. I was extremely proud of it and even tested dropping it to the ground from the 2nd storey. It was definitely the coolest thing to own as a kid in school.. one of those things that you remember forever.

Sometime last year, I got a call from Topa from Kikstyo and he explained that they were having this project with casio G shock to celebrate its 25th anniversary. They were selecting one designer from a different city each to be on board and design their own exclusive G-shock.

It was like a childhood dream come true, and I immediately thought of my mom.

Its definitely a cool thing to have my own G shock.

Especially since there are only 10 pieces in existence.

Enjoying Every Minute Of It.

Today I uploaded some “work in progress” pics from the Dead Generals season. They are specifically about the montage of many military propaganda motifs and Royalefam insignias.

Initially, the print was meant to be for the side wall panels of the Jackal & Hyde Dunks.

However, after the initial test print was done on a piece of craft paper, we fell in love with the look and decided to make it the backdrop for the look book.

Our next question was: How do our customers get a piece of the print? So we decided to print them directly onto the shoe boxes. We had to spend a much bigger amount of work and time on the shoe boxes but we enjoyed every minute creating them.

First we unfolded all the boxes, then laid them flat on a table and silk screened them individually.

We like to work in layers, so we cut up some stencils and marked the boxes with Larger Dead Generals motifs randomly so that every box is different.

Next we laid them all flat on the floor and dripped paint on them. Then once the panit dried, we folded them back up and …Shazaaam!

Once Upon A Canvas.

Posted by Mark Ong On June - 7 - 2009

Once in a while, it feels extremely great to go all out on a flat piece of canvas. I almost forgot how free it feels to work on something with no contours.

I went a lil crazy on it but it is all punk rock man.
