My DC Life Admiral Sport ‘Metallic Silver’

Posted by Mark Ong On November - 20 - 2009

These are the kicks I was rocking when I was in Auckland for the DC x Royalefam Circus of Mutants launch party, courtesy of the good guys at DC Shoes of course. This pair is the DC Life Admiral Sport ‘Metallic Silver’, which isn’t even launched yet! If you like it, be patient cos it’ll be available in 2010!

My kicks are even more awesome after my new buddies Renee Renee and Tru’fant aka Reuben Droughns signed it. Here are the photos!

SBTG in New Zealand (Part 2)

SBTGinNZ-00

On Wednesday morning, a bunch of us decided to go sailing! That was an awesome way to start off the morning, with the breath-taking view of Auckland and soaking in some of that sunlight! So the whole bunch of us boarded the American’s Cup yacht and set off sailing. Pretty damn awesome experience!

After lunch I had the honour of being interviewed by the WTV channel news correspondent, and I did the interview entirely in Mandarin. Check it out, if you haven’t seen it on the Royalefm Facebook page yet.

Then it was off to the Qubic store, where we finally got to catch up with our friends Frank, Ivy and Minky Moo Moo. They brought Sue-anne and I to go have the hokey pokey ice cream. No one should leave New Zealand without having a taste of the hokey pokey.

The highlight of my last day in Auckland was the launch party of the DC x Royalefam Circus of Mutants collection. The turnout at the event was overwhelming, it’s almost felt like my super sweet sixteen, haha! Renee Renee, my new buddy (who happens to be really talented), kept everyone well entertained and also hosted the programme for the evening.

I really love and appreciate the amount of hard work and effort put in by the guys who took part in the skateboard art competition. The amount of detail on some of the decks are mind-blowing. But of course, I had to pick the winner. The lucky guy, Gary Grouch, walked away that night a thousand bucks richer, along with a DC prize pack, and a pair of handpainted one-offs from me.

Thanks to everyone, our friends, fans and supporters, who took time off to come to the party. And of course, I’d like to thank the guys at DC and Loaded for making this trip happen, and for throwing such an awesome launch party. Big up goes to Jeremy and his team, for taking care of every detail and nitty gritty stuff leading up to the day of the launch, and of course the team from Loaded for arranging the meet-and-greet. Hopefully I’ll get to see you guys sometime soon, hit me up if you’re going to come to Singapore.

SBTG in New Zealand (Part 1)

SBTGinNZ-01

So last week, I packed my bags and flew off to New Zealand for the launch of the DC x Royalefam Circus of Mutants collection. Spent three days in Auckland, and it’s such a beautiful place… If only we had more time to do more sightseeing though.

SBTGinNZ-02

That said, the trip was really amazing! And none of it would have been possible without all the hard work and planning by the awesome people from DC and Loaded. They made it happen, and they made each moment of the trip really unforgettable.

On my second day in Auckland, I had the opportunity to have a mini meet-and-greet session at the Loaded store. I had the opportunity to meet lots of people, some of them fans and supporters, and every one of them a sneakerhead. It’s always an awesome feeling to see all these people gather together, all of them who share a similar passion. Thanks to the guys at Loaded for making the meet-and-greet session possible, it’s such an awesome feeling!

Apart from the meet-and-greet, I had the honour of being interviewed by a couple of radio stations, from Flava Radio, to The Edge and finally to a 95bFM interview with this radio DJ called Richie Hardcore. I don’t think I’ll ever get to meet another guy with ‘Hardcore’ as his last name. Awesome guy, it was definitely an honour to meet so many people in Auckland in a matter of just a few days.

The DC representatives from all the different countries were such great company to be with, even Koichi from DC Japan was there! The day ended with dinner with the guys from DC, and once again, big up to all of you from DC for making this trip possible!

Check back for Part 2 of the update, and some lowdown on the Launch Party. You guys should have been there, and if you guys wanna find out more about my collaboration with DC, do check out the microsite they’ve done up for the Circus of Mutants collection here. Let me know what you think, ‘cos I think it’s pretty dope!

Fred Perry 100 Year Bash

Posted by Mark Ong On November - 7 - 2009

The crew was out and about at Red Dot on Thursday night for the Fred Perry 100 Year Bash. The place was nicely done up for the event, and of course the consistently dope threads from Fred Perry were presented on the runway. It was nice to hang out and catch up with my friends before leaving for New Zealand tomorrow for the DC sales conference. I’ll update more, so do check back! And of course, join me and the crew on Facebook and Twitter!

ChicoSci

Posted by Mark Ong On November - 5 - 2009

Finally got my hands on ChicoSci’s latest album Fly Black Hearts, with the cover art done by yours truly. I’m very happy with the way it turned out, especially the words which I wrote with a paintbrush. Love the effect.

And here are the boys from ChicoSci looking good on a billboard in the Philippines. They were recently in Singapore to perform at the Nike Human Race. Hopefully soon they’ll perform live in Singapore. Check out their songs on Myspace.

In the mood to get my hands all full of paint so we brought out the paint and silkscreened some new tees! The colours turned out really awesome too.

Posted by Mark Ong On November - 2 - 2009

In case any one of you is going to Tokyo… You’ve got to check out this ramen place called ICHIRAN. I wrote about it earlier, and thanks to Koichi for bringing me and the Royalefam crew to this ramen place. Unforgettable.
